Most Embarrassing Show & Tell

Today is Show and Tell Tuesday with Andrea at Momfessionals. I debated about joining in on today's fun because I don't have something really funny to share. In the end, I thought of two pretty good stories, so here they are. My two most embarrassing moments of the last six years...

Dave and I had had a really fun first date the evening before, and on this day we were headed north on a road trip. We were having a great time together, getting to know each other. Four hours into the trip, we stopped in Mackinac City and picked up some sandwiches to go so we could eat outside. It was a beautiful day. We went to that park with gorgeous views of the bridge and ate our sandwiches outside on a picnic table.

We were getting back into the car and Dave said "uhhhh, you have some mayo on your nose." MAYO. ON MY NOSE. On our second date!!!!  He handed me a napkin and I wiped it off. We both burst out laughing. :) That broke an additional layer of ice and we were even more comfortable with each other after that. Occasionally (every couple months or even longer) after a meal, I'll ask Dave if I have any mayo on my face. Haha :) For the first few months after, though, I'd think about that moment and really cringe. How on earth do you get mayo on your nose?! And not even know it!

This next one was about a year and a half later. I was getting up at 6:15 for work every morning. It was dark outside (middle of the winter dark), and I like to ease myself into the morning so I turn on the fewest lights possible. I made it to school and was teaching first period. There was a girl in the front who kept kind of half grinning at me. After about fifteen minutes, she raised her hand.

"Mrs. K, you have two different shoes on."

Lol! I looked down and sure enough, one black shoe and one brown shoe. I burst out laughing along with most of the class as they craned their necks to get a look at my feet. I pretty much never have matching socks on, but shoes?!! Yeah, I try to match those. Haha :) Lucky for me, I had extra shoes at school so I slipped those on. All day long, kids were walking into my room or stopping by to check out my shoes. I think they were bummed they missed out :)

For fun, here's a photo of 9 month old Aiden at that same park by the Macinac Bridge.

How about you? Any fun embarrassing stories to share? :)

Weekend Recap:: House Planning Edition

I'm still getting over this bug I got on the drive home from Florida. I've been feeling cooped up, though, so I wanted to get out of the house. So we had sort of a low key weekend.... but we got some stuff done, too. Make sense? :)

Friday night we walked around an outdoor mall. I wanted to look at Home Goods for inspiration for some of the rooms in our new house. One thing I learned: decor is all about the sea right now. Half of the stuff in there had to do with the beach! We got some ideas, then walked to a more important store for this guy:

We really thought he should have a nice Detroit Tigers ball cap. He was pretty unsure about the whole baseball cap idea until he spotted this one:

Guess which one we got. Haha :)

We then went to Home Depot to pick out the tile for our bathtub/shower surround. We had limited success, and these two sure enjoyed the trip!

Someone loves mornings while his big brother is still sleeping :) (his momma might like these mornings too!)

So many smiles!

Saturday afternoon we went to Ikea to finalize some details for our kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities.

He was a little concerned about something! Haha :)

On Sunday Aiden was looking so cute!

He loves his new hat!

We got to meet Dad for lunch! And since Anders got to sit on dad's lap, Aiden had to also.

Blurry/in motion photo, but I had to include it because he is SO BIG.

Last stop was Target. This is typical of these two... Anders with the biggest grin and Aiden "stop taking pictures, Mom!"

I hope you had a good weekend. Have a great week!

Friday Favorites:: Sick Edition

We got home from Florida on Monday around 7pm. Dave gave me the key so I could run ahead to go to the bathroom. I was so wiped out, I could barely walk into our room. After using the bathroom, I sat on the couch. And couldn't get up for several hours. I seriously couldn't move! Fever, body aches, sore throat, nausea. I was OUT!

I haven't been feeling good all week. We've spent a lot of time doing this:

Aiden knows how I felt!! One day he brought this pillow around so he could lay on it where ever he was.

Anders knows how to cheer up his sick Momma!

So does Aiden! It's hard to get real smiles from him when the camera comes out, but I caught sort of a real one here :)

The quality of this photo is bad but I still had to share it. Anders is showing off a new outfit he got from grandma (Carhart shorts!) and Aiden couldn't let Anders have all the attention, so he joined the photo. He's showing off his Mickey Mouse shirt. :)

Jammy walk on a beautiful morning. Ten minutes of fresh air was all I could handle but it really felt good!

Have a great weekend! I'm hoping to kick this bug (whatever it is that I have) to the curb so I can start enjoying this beautiful weather more!

Life Lately

I am extremely lucky this winter! This is what we have been up to lately:

Going to the beach. Playing.

Going for walks. Spending tons of quality time outside.
